OPTIMIZATION OF HONEYTEX TECHNOLOGY AND INTEGRATION OF NEW PROCESSES TO ENHANCE HONEYCOMB STRENGTH
HONEYTEX 2026
Motivation
Currently, commercially available honeycombs with high mechanical performance tend to be relatively expensive, while lower-cost alternatives often fall short in terms of mechanical properties. In addition, most honeycombs available today present significant recycling challenges. Addressing these limitations of commercial honeycombs is the main motivation for the research and development of a new generation of honeycombs with a more competitive quality-to-price ratio and full recyclability.

Objectives
The main objective of this project is to optimize the HONEYTEX honeycomb development technology to improve mechanical properties. The project also aims to develop a demonstrator module for plastic welding to assemble new honeycombs made from natural fibers, to create an exploratory line of lightweight, high‑performance honeycombs, and to modify the honeycomb assembly demonstrator module to improve the forming process and increase production speed.
Expected results

-
Development of a demonstrator module for welding honeycombs made from natural fibers.
-
Implementation of modifications to the honeycomb assembly demonstrator module to increase honeycomb formation speed.
-
Development of honeycombs with a high content of natural fibers.
-
Development of an exploratory production line for lightweight, high‑performance honeycombs.
