GAMIFICATION USED IN PHYSICAL REHABILITATION USING SMART TEXTILES
GAMIFY 2025
Motivation
In recent years, the field of smart textiles has shown great potential in various applications, especially in health and rehabilitation. The need for innovative solutions to improve the quality and efficiency of physical rehabilitation processes has driven the creation of this project. The combination of smart textiles, advanced sensorics and gamification techniques offers great promise in increasing motivation, adherence and effectiveness in physical rehabilitation treatments, providing autonomy and rigorous patient monitoring.

Objectives
The aim of this project is to make further progress in the field of smart textiles through gamification for the physical health of users through controlled rehabilitation.
It is hoped to obtain an electronic textile system that, by means of acceleration, movement, heart rate and blood oxygen sensors, will help in rehabilitation individually through immersive VR and mobile devices, with exhaustive control without constant personalised intervention. Further, it is hoped that correct performance of the movements, analysing and cerifying the evolution of the user.

Value and competitive advantage

-
Development of sustainable functional materials from waste, aligned with circular economy and energy transition goals.
-
Lightweight and multifunctional solutions with superior technical performance compared to conventional materials.
-
Transferable results to strategic sectors with high potential for industrial scaling and commercial application.
Obtained results

-
Development of a set of electronic devices designed to monitor and analyze movement during physical rehabilitation sessions.
-
Development of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality applications enabling device connectivity, data processing, and real-time comparison with exercise patterns predefined by professional physiotherapists.
-
Development of a charging base for powering and storing the electronic devices.
-
Development of two sports textile sets to improve accuracy in capturing users’ movements.
-
Development of a sensorized textile mat integrating an electronic system capable of acquiring pressure data from a resistive matrix.
