CIRCULARITY OF CONVENTIONAL TECHNICAL FIBRES TO ADAPT THEM FOR SHORT FIBRE SPINNING AND REVALUATION AS REINFORCING FIBRES IN INTERMEDIATE TEXTILES
FIBERSPIN 2025
Motivation
Staple fibre spinning processing has always played a key role in the textile industry and is crucial for several reasons: versatility in materials, quality improvement, production efficiency, wide application and innovation and sustainable development.
Staple fibre spinning has evolved over time to address environmental challenges. The ability to recycle fibres and the adoption of more sustainable spinning technologies are contributing to reducing the environmental impact of the textile industry. This is why the industrial community of the Valencia Region is particularly interested in adapting its processes to the new staple fibre blends whose characteristics make it difficult to reuse conventional parameters, necessitating individual processability studies.

Objectives
The main objective is the reintroduction of waste into the value chain, in the textile and other strategic sectors. The implementation of adaptations in production processes is key to the treatment of recycled fibres, especially reinforcement fibres.
Expected results

-
Definition of the optimal methodology and parameters for fibre recycling, ensuring maximum properties of recovered fibres.
-
Validation of pre- and post-consumer recycled fibre revaluation methods using textile methods to obtain the highest quality intermediates.
-
Improvement of the properties of intermediates obtained from recycled reinforcement fibres for technical applications in added value sectors (aeronautics, security and transport).
-
Identification of new applications for recovered fibres to meet current market needs
