Circular economy and sustainability
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MATERIALS REINFORCED WITH MULTI‑SECTOR WASTE LOADS FOR THEIR VALORISATION IN INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS THROUGH INJECTION PROCESSES
ALGAFLEX
Motivation
AITEX is developing the RECINJECT project with the aim of promoting more sustainable, high value‑added thermoplastic materials through the valorisation of textile, agricultural and forestry wastes that are currently underutilised. The initiative responds to the industrial need for recyclable, stable compounds compatible with injection moulding and 3D printing processes, while also taking advantage of the potential of lignin and other natural fillers as functional elements capable of improving technical properties such as UV resistance, antimicrobial behaviour and durability against ageing.
Through this project, AITEX strengthens its commitment to the circular economy and to the development of advanced solutions that enhance the competitiveness of the productive fabric of the Valencian Region. In addition, RECINJECT contributes to the creation of mono‑material solutions oriented towards ecodesign and recyclability, consolidating AITEX as a reference centre in biocomposites and sustainable technologies for industry.

Objectives
The general objective of the RECINJECT project is to research and develop sustainable compounds by applying ecodesign strategies and using waste from the textile and agricultural sectors through injection moulding processes.
Expected results

-
Development of new families of bio‑based materials for injection moulding.
-
Development of new families of mono‑material injection moulding materials with enhanced recyclability.
-
Significant reduction of environmental impact compared to conventional polymers.
-
Materials with improved properties (UV protection, ageing stabilisation and antimicrobial effects) thanks to the incorporation of lignin.
-
Promotion of the valorisation of agricultural, forestry and textile waste.
