RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT IN CIRCULAR TEXTILE RECYCLING FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SPINNABLE FIBERS AND HIGH‑PERFORMANCE TEXTILE STRUCTURES
CirFibraTECH
Motivation
The textile sector is currently undergoing a transition towards more responsible production models aligned with the principles of the circular economy. This transformation requires new solutions that enable the valorization of waste streams that currently present significant recycling challenges, especially those originating from technical applications such as protective equipment, specialized fabrics, or materials intended for demanding industrial markets. At the same time, there is increasing interest in incorporating materials from more sustainable sources, such as innovative bio‑based fibers, capable of reducing environmental impact and opening new development opportunities within the textile field.
The combination of these challenges highlights the need to advance technologies that enable the recovery of fibers with sufficient quality to be reintroduced into conventional spinning and weaving processes, generating competitive, high value‑added textile products.

Objectives
The objective of the project is to research and develop solutions that enhance textile circularity across the entire value chain. The project aims to optimize recycling processes capable of recovering fibers in suitable conditions for industrial use, enabling their integration into different spinning technologies and the manufacture of advanced textile structures.
Expected results

-
Development of a new generation of textile materials derived from circular resources, demonstrating the potential to valorize textile waste, including technical and highly complex materials.
-
Methodologies that provide increased traceability throughout the supply chain, facilitating the verification of recycled content in the resulting textile products.
-
New fabric and advanced structural proposals designed to meet the specific needs of high value‑added sectors such as personal protection and heavy industry.
