RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF SMART TEXTILES FOR IMMERSIVE VR EXPERIENCES
GAMIFY 2024
Motivation
Advances in Virtual Reality technology have expanded its application beyond the realm of video games and now many well-known names in the industry are considering developing devices that use VR for everyday uses including rehabilitation, sports and art.
The combination of smart textiles with VR opens a wide range of opportunities in fields that go beyond video games to provide robust support for the elderly or disabled.
The use of smart textiles connects the real world to a virtual environment, providing the user with an enormous range of experiences and possibilities.

Objectives
The main purpose of the project is to create advanced textiles that combine with VR technology to enhance the user experience through integrated sensors and gaming elements, while exploring the various applications of the technology beyond the realm of video games.
- Create garments that integrate inertial and pressure sensors with other control devices to offer the user more immersive virtual experiences.
- Development of compact wearable electronics suitable for virtual environments will also be pursued, as well as systems that enable the physical interaction of the user in a virtual environment through smart textiles.

Value and competitive advantage

-
Creation of a video game to promote sports practice in controlled environments.
-
Use of smart textiles in the field of health and well-being.
-
Optimization of design for greater comfort.
-
Improvement of casing quality by manufacturing a metal mold for plastic injection.
-
Reduction of manufacturing costs for large-scale production runs.
-
Easily portable and wireless training systems.
Obtained results

-
Creation of a virtual reality video game for yoga, using textile bracelets with sensors that recognize movements.
-
Development of a mobile application with AI that detects the bracelets and evaluates the movements.
-
Yoga mats with embroidered pressure sensors that collect data and display it through a mobile application.
