RESEARCH ON SOCIOCULTURAL AND MARKET TRENDS FOR THE ECODESIGN OF TEXTILE PRODUCTS FOR HABITAT

VALHABITAT 2025

Motivation

Throughout 2025, AITEX intends to continue its prospective studies, both qualitative and quantitative, related to the habitat sector, focusing on Home Textiles and applying eco-design as a product design and development management system. Since 2005, AITEX has developed its own methodology that combines quantitative market analysis (based on real consumer purchasing behavior data) with qualitative studies that explore transformations in the habitat and the products that make it up.

On the qualitative side, work is carried out in collaboration with the Habitat Trends Observatory (OTH), formed by AITEX, AIDIMME, and ITC, producing content such as the biannual Habitat Trends Notebook and annual monographs, which are shared with companies through webinars, workshops, and training sessions. In addition, specific monitoring is conducted on sociocultural and market changes affecting home textile products, resulting in the creation of Home Textile Trends Monographs. All of this strategic information is based on in-depth knowledge of the sector and on data collected about the needs of users of home textile products.

Objectives

  • Provide strategic information (both qualitative and quantitative) to help companies develop products aligned with consumer needs.
  • Collect and analyze quantitative data from the Home Textiles market for the Fall/Winter 2024–25 and Spring/Summer 2025 seasons, identifying what, where, when, and how much consumers are buying.
  • Research and analyze sociocultural and market changes up to June 2025 that influence the sector, producing the 2026 Home Textiles Trends Report (the seventh in the series).
  • Edit, proofread, and print the Habitat Trends Notebook 26/27 in collaboration with the Habitat Trends Observatory (OTH) and transfer it to the sector.
  • Carry out knowledge transfer activities such as webinars, workshops, collaborations in events, and the publication of open-access documents.

Expected results

  • Printing and dissemination of the HABITAT TRENDS NOTEBOOK 26/27 and its transfer through webinars, trade fair presentations, and various sector-specific outreach activities. This document will also be available on the website of the Habitat Trends Observatory (OTH), where it can be downloaded.
  • Printing and dissemination of the HOME TEXTILE TRENDS MONOGRAPH 2026, which will be freely downloadable from both the AITEX website and the OTH website.
  • Design and development of the HOME TEXTILE TRENDS SPACE 2025 at the HABITAT 2025 Fair, within the Home Textiles area.
  • Development, printing, and dissemination of the HOME TEXTILE MARKET STUDIES Fall/Winter 24/25 and Spring/Summer 2025.
  • Drafting of the OTH MONOGRAPH No. 7, which will later be uploaded to the OTH website for download and transfer to the habitat sector.
