DEVELOPMENT OF ELECTROSPINNING TECHNOLOGY FOR INNOVATIONS IN THE COSMETICS AND MEDICAL SECTORS
SPIN2CARE
Motivation
SPIN2CARE responds to the growing need for innovation in the medical and cosmetic sectors by developing solutions based on functionalized nanofibers obtained by electrospinning technology. These sectors present significant challenges related to the efficacy, safety and sustainability of products, especially in frontier applications combining personal care, prevention and treatment of damaged tissue.
In addition, the project builds on the experience of AITEX in the development of functionalized nanofiber veils, such as in the REPAIR project, which validated the use of electrospinning for wound regeneration in patients with severe burns. SPIN2CARE seeks to advance the optimization of these nanofibers for medical and cosmetic applications, overcoming regulatory and technical barriers and setting standards for technology transfer from the laboratory to industrial production.

Objectives
The main objective is to promote research and production of solutions based on nanofibers to impact on people’s quality of life. An additional aim is to study frontier products in the medical and cosmetic sectors; in particular, those formed by nanofibers with functional substances, used in the care, prevention, treatment and relief of damaged tissue. A third objective is to evaluate the regulatory framework and the standardization of processes for the industrialization of electrospinning technology in these sectors.
Expected results

-
The project is expected to produce innovative products based on functionalized nanofibers for the medical-cosmetic market.
-
It also aims to assess the regulatory compliance of these products and the required documentation.
-
A methodological framework will be developed as a replicable system for future projects.
-
An implementation study will be carried out, focused on practical application and technology transfer from the laboratory to production.
