High value-added solutions for strategic markets
DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF AN ADVANCED FORMAT USING FUNCTIONALISED NANOFIBRES WITH TOPICAL APPLICATIONS IN COSMETICS AND HEALTH
CLINIC PLUS
Motivation
The project arises from the need to improve products intended for personal health care, from the perspective of sustainability and innovation, as they represent a significant source of pollution and high consumption of natural resources. This initiative is based on the approach of “responsible innovation,” aligning with the principles of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, promoting business practices that generate a positive impact on society and the environment. The purpose is to modernize industrial infrastructure and promote cleaner technologies, thereby contributing to the promotion of sustainable industrialization and innovation.

Objectives
- Develop and validate an advanced functionalised electrospun nanofibre veil to provide an improved format as an alternative to conventional formulations.
- Improve the efficacy of existing treatments and promote more sustainable practices in the cosmetics and healthcare industry.
- Establish standards of safety, efficacy and sustainability, consolidating and extending the leading position of AITEX and the companies collaborating in the project in healthcare.

Value and competitive advantage

-
Innovative, competitive, and sustainable solutions through functionalized nanofiber technology using electrospinning.
-
Optimization of precursor solutions and selection of sustainable solvents.
-
Versatile technology ready for innovation in highly competitive sectors.
Obtained results

-
Development of an innovative solution based on functionalized nanofibers using electrospinning, aimed at the cosmetic and healthcare sectors.
-
PVA enabled the encapsulation of water-soluble peptides, achieving homogeneous nanofibers ideal for controlled release in topical applications.
-
DL-PLA allowed the encapsulation of both water-soluble and lipid-soluble peptides, producing uniform nanofibers and showcasing its versatility for cosmetics and healthcare.
-
Semi-industrial production was validated using the roll-to-roll system, achieving uniform weights and optimal production rates, demonstrating deasibility for large-scale innovative products.
