AITEX is working on this through the GREEN THINKING project to demonstrate how applying the principles of eco-design significantly reduces environmental impact in different sectors of the textile industry in the Valencian Community.
To help face these challenges, AITEX places its full array of technical facilities and resources at the disposal of the textile industry through its Circular Economy and Sustainability Technical Unit.
There are various approaches available for textile recycling, both mechanical and chemical, using different technologies and resources.
Global textile fibre production has doubled in the last 20 years, reaching an all-time high of 111 million tonnes in 2019, with continued growth forecast until 2030. This increase, coupled with current consumption patterns generates huge amounts of waste.
AITEX has set up a new Technical Unit for Sustainability and the Circular Economy to enable textile companies to improve their positioning as environmentally sustainable companies and to generate business opportunities by changing to new circular models.
