EYE AND FACIAL PROTECTION
The Institute is approved to perform tests applicable to PPE’s for eye protection and corrective eye protection. There are specific test standards and requirements for different types of eye wear.
Optical test methods:
- Spherical refractive, astigmatic and prismatic potential
- Diffusion of light
- Transmittance
Non-optical test methods:
- Mechanical strength
- Stability at high temperature
- Resistance to UV radiation
- Resistance to flammability
- Resistance to corrosion.
- Resistance to particle impact
- Protection against molten metal
- Resistance to penetration by burning solids
- Protection against drips and splashes
- Protection against coarse dust particles
- Protection against gases and fine dust particles
- Resistance to surface deterioration caused by fine particles
The Institute is also approved to carry out testing of sunglasses for general use and road use and driving, using the following tests:
- Transmittance
- Refractive power
- General strength and robustness
- Resistance to UV radiation
- Resistance to flammability
- Resistance to particle impact
