Textile architecture
In this field, research is aimed at items such as coverings, awnings, marquees and canvas structures etc., for use in outdoor public areas. Work is carried out on improving the performance of the material in terms of UV protection or the ageing resulting from its exposure to the elements for long periods of time. Research is also carried out into other more specific fields of use in textile architecture, such as agrotextiles and acoustic or thermal insulation textiles.
Lines of R+D:
Extrusion of new high-performance polymer materials
The search for new spinning possibilities in terms of technical polymers with improved mechanical/thermal properties. In this field, we are working with polymers such as PPS, TPE, LCP, TPVA.

Lines of Innovation:
Simulation of the influence of rain
The aim is to create a real simulation of the influence of rain on garments designed to protect against this risk, using a flow of 450 l/m2h, also reproducing, therefore, the effect of the mechanical energy of drops of rain falling from a great height, thereby achieving high energy drops.

Evaluation of thermal insulation in critical wind conditions.
Thermal insulation studies carried out on garments, under critical wind, temperature and moisture conditions.

Classification of the fire behaviour of interior design materials
The characteristics of materials used in interior design and decoration and for other uses could be a potential risk in terms of starting or spreading a fire. Therefore, AITEX tests the fire behaviour in materials for differents interiors.
