This laboratory can carry out the following tests, among others:
MASS PER SURFACE UNIT This test establishes the mass per surface unit of the filter material, whether it be textile, cardboard or paper. AIR PERMEABILITY
This test determines the quantity of air that crosses the textile by aspiration that forces air flow through a probe. The air flow is progressively adjusted until a drop in pressure is obtained. This is the basic parameter used in any filtration medium. PERMEABILITY WATER A test method that uses hydrostatic pressure to determine water penetration resistance in a material. This allows a measurement to be taken of the resistance to water flow through the filter. EQUIVALENT PORE SIZE The equivalent pore size is also called average defined pore size and is determined through the Bubble Point test.
By using controlled air pressure passed through a fabric sample that has been dampened by a liquid with known properties, air is allowed to pass through the ideal circular pore of the material. This is exactly the same as the pore size in monofilament-monofilament textiles and will give the equivalent pore size in all other wovens, non-wovens and membranes. STRECHIN AND TRACTION RESISTANCE Traction characteristics (or the force necessary to break a fabric) can be determined for textiles, coated textiles etc. A dynamometer is used, and a wide range of variables can be applied to obtain this parameter. Apart from these tests, AITEX carries out general testing that are not exclusively to do with filtration but which are included in the technical data of any material used as a filter: Thickness, laminate mass, warp and weft strength.
