Agrotextiles are mainly used in providing thermal protection for crops; this includes protection from external agents and inclement weather during harvesting. The principal agrotextile products are; nets, cords, weather protection fabrics (wind breaks, hail protection etc), those which are designed to protect against insect and avian plagues, thermal protection such as shades and thermal screening and finally, those designed for packing and transport. The advantages in using agrotextiles include:  An increase in crop productivity. A reduction in soil drying. A reduction in the need for fertilisers, pesticides and water. An improvement in product quality. Earlier harvesting and out-of-season harvesting. The most important experiments:
